They Have Blood on Their Hands

I awoke this morning with a searing picture

  of the reality of life, right now, in America

  emblazoned on my mind, burning my heart.

Eyes open, strip away images

  of buildings and institutions,

  of republicans and democrats,

  of north and south, city and country.

Strip away ALL the images of division

  between people of the United States.

Now, look again.

Yes, you will see destroyed farms

  and buildings and institutions and

  nature and businesses and colleges...

Now, look further behind all that
  and you will see the reality

  of what is going on.

Do you see them?

There they are...
  the people, 
  grandparents,
  babies and children, 
  veterans who risked their lives for us, 
  the thousands who lost their livelihoods, 
  people who can't find work, 
  people who can't find medical care,

  people who can't pay medical bills,  

  families left behind in natural disasters,

  the elders who sleep in the alley...

Do you see them?

These are the faces of the people,
  ALL across this beautiful America,
  whose lives are being shattered, 

  destroyed by this regime.

In the end, this coup isn't about

  institutions we may not understand.

  It is about real people, us, and the lives

  they are viciously and maliciously destroying.

This regime has blood on their hands,

the blood of the innocent.

And, they are laughing?!
