We are Part of a Movement Moment!
Could We Be Entering a ‘Movement Moment’ Against trump?
History tells us that, even as authoritarians deploy “shock and awe” campaigns to cause confusion and demobilization, they consistently underestimate the ability of movements to break out in opposition. And it has demonstrated that civil resistance — in the form of mass protest, strikes, boycotts and creative noncompliance — can have profound effects in turning public opinion against a regime and ultimately forcing autocrats from power.
...history is punctuated with moments in which mass protests unexpectedly fill the streets, draw large numbers of previously uninvolved people into movement activity, and quickly shift public perception of an issue, changing the bounds of what is politically possible.
“If politics is ‘the art of the possible,’ what are we to make of moments when human beings living in modern societies believe that ‘all is possible?’”
these periods of elevated activity can accomplish many things. In a democratic context, they can reframe popular reception of a cause, change the landscape of solutions that are considered feasible, compel politicians and bosses to accede to demands that they might otherwise have rejected out of hand, seed the formation of new groups and campaigns, and allow established organizations to reap the benefits of an inflow of new resources and participants. In more authoritarian settings, they have been instrumental in averting coups, halting undemocratic power grabs, stopping the stealing of elections, and even ousting illegitimate regimes.

The Light Reflecting from the Horizon is US!
This article is too good and too filled with incredible information for me to provide Cliff notes. Do the read for a great start to your week!
The battle for democracy, however, is not yet won.
Winston Churchill, 1942
The first 100 days: Why we must mobilize
Now is the time for all of us to become activists and force this despicable regime out of office
Friends, we have witnessed what can happen in just the first hundred days. I’m not at all sure we can wait until the 2026 midterm elections and cross our fingers that Democrats take back at least one chamber of Congress.
At the rate this regime is wreaking havoc, too much damage will have been done by then. The nation is tottering on the edge of dictatorship.
We are no longer Democrats or Republicans. We are either patriots fighting the regime or we are complicit in its tyranny. There is no middle ground.
Soon, I fear, the regime will openly defy the Supreme Court. Americans must be mobilized into such a huge wave of anger and disgust that members of the House are compelled to impeach Trump (for the third time) and enough senators are moved to finally convict him.
Then this shameful chapter of American history will end.
We ARE a Social Movement
We are always moving, always changing.
We are the American people.
And we are ousting the regime!
Here's just one wave in the ocean...there are so many more.

Remember These Things, Even When You Get Tired...
We Get Tired and Need a Reprieve
Take Care of Yourself - Rest!
But Don't Fall into Denial of the State of Affairs!
trump MUST GO...NOW
Tyrants like Trump always fall
and we can already predict how he will be dethroned
Tyrants come to a sticky end, or so history suggests. Richard III and Coriolanus made bloody exits. More recently, Saddam Hussein went to the gallows, Slobodan Milosevic went to jail, Bashar al-Assad went into exile. Libya’s Muammar Gaddafi was run to ground in a sewer. Tyranny, from the Greek túrannos (“absolute ruler”), is typically fuelled by hubris and leads ineluctably to nemesis. Tyrants are for toppling. Their downfall is a saving grace.
Tyranny, in its many forms, is back in vogue, and everyone knows who’s to blame. To be fair, to suggest similarities between the aforementioned abominable individuals and Donald Trump would be utterly wrong. In key respects, he’s worse. Measured by willingness and capacity to harm the world’s poorest and most vulnerable, wreak global economic mayhem and threaten nuclear annihilation, Trump is uniquely dangerous – and ever more so by the day.
Yet like every tyrant, old and new, Trump must fall.

To paraphrase Thomas Paine in 1776, these are the times that try people’s souls. As Paine also wrote:
When a people agree to form themselves into a republic … it is understood that they mutually resolve and pledge themselves to each other, rich and poor alike, to support this rule of equal justice among them …
(and) they renounce as detestable, the power of exercising, at any future time any species of despotism over each other, or of doing a thing not right in itself,
because a majority of them may have
the strength of numbers sufficient to accomplish it.

FOX Approval Ratings

Or, How About His Attacks on Civil Rights Law?
Failure Upon Failure of the Regime
Musk - And Musk’s vow of $2 trillion in cuts has dwindled down to $150 billion, although that number is not yet verifiable. Elizabeth Williamson of the New York Times reported today that the cost of firing workers will be more than $135 billion this year, while cuts to the IRS will cost about $8.5 billion in revenue in 2026 alone. And then there is the cost of lawsuits over DOGE’s actions.
Kennedy - Kennedy has a history of opposition to vaccines and has refused to urge people to get vaccinated to stop the spread of measles. That outbreak is already the largest since the disease ceased to be consistently present in the U.S. population 25 years ago. Today scientists reported that, at current rates of vaccination, measles could become commonplace again.
Hegseth - the latest debacle - Hegseth directed staffers to install Signal on his desktop computer so he could use Signal in a secure area where his own cell phone was not allowed. The computer was connected to the internet on an unsecured commercial line, making it highly susceptible to hacking.
trump - which conversation shall we follow? How about tariffs? The cover of The Economist today shows a battered and heavily bandaged eagle under the caption: “Only 1,361 Days To Go.” A Reuters poll found that just 37% of Americans approve of his handling of the economy, which was supposed to be his strong suit. An Economist/YouGov poll found Trump’s approval rating was –13, with 54% of Americans disapproving of the way he is handling the presidency and only 41% approving.
Republican Congresswoman Opens Up
Lisa Murkowski reveals the ugly nature of Trump's rule
It's not about persuasion. It's about fear.
Watch the video...
Murkowski’s remarks are alarming because there’s no reason she should fear “retaliation” in any normal political sense. She held off a primary challenge in 2022 and isn’t up for reelection until 2028. But everyone understands that defying Trump can bring dangers more grave than well-funded primary challenges.
After all, on January 6, Trump sicced a violent mob on his own vice president when he wouldn’t follow his illegal orders, and since returning to office, Trump has behaved more like a mob boss than a commander in chief. Indeed, Murkowski sounds sadly resigned to this fact, like someone bravely fighting a terminal illness with no hope of a cure.
Trump is not a normal president who governs through persuasion and political savvy. He constantly resorts to coercive threats. A system where that becomes normal isn’t a democracy. It’s a reign of terror.

Stand Up & Fight
"I think a lot of voters — both Republican and Democrat — are tired of elected officials and politicians who just put their finger to the wind. And I would say that anyone who’s not prepared to stand up and fight for the Constitution doesn’t deserve to lead.”
Across the US, WE RESIST
Barack Obama recently said, “It has been easy during most of our lifetimes to say you are a progressive or say you are for social justice or say you’re for free speech and not have to pay a price for it. Now we’re at one of those moments where, you know what?
And we are!!!

Freedom is a Birthright
Freedom is not just an option.
Freedom is a birthright,
of you and me,
and every being born on this planet.
No person or regime can EVER take that from us...
unless we give it to them.
I will NOT EVER give it to them.
Solidarity and Courage
We, The People
Tyrants prey on people who feel unsafe and vulnerable. That’s the attraction of Trumpism — offering a false sense of security and inclusion. That’s what Hitler offered as well, and Stalin, and all the other “strongmen” in history — who ended up murdering millions.
But without mass submission, a tyrant is powerless.
As we resist Trump’s tyranny, America gains solidarity.
As we gain solidarity, we feel more courageous.
As we feel courageous and stand up to Trump, we weaken him and his regime.
As we weaken Trump and his regime, we have less to fear.

Great Article! Best to read the entire thing, but if you don't have time, here's a few snippets...
The Czech Republic – once part of what was cold war-era Czechoslovakia and, coincidentally, birthplace of Trump’s first wife, Ivana – is a possible blueprint for how street protest can bloom into a unified electoral strategy that eventually unseats a billionaire leader with autocratic aspirations and apparent scorn for democracy.
The demonstrations, despite the lost momentum caused by Covid and Babiš’s stubborn refusal to resign even as police lodged criminal fraud charges, had worked by converting discontent into votes at the ballot box.
“We certainly had some role in the election results,” said Benjamin Roll, Million Moments for Democracy’s spokesperson and deputy leader at the time. “I believe we in the Czech Republic are an example of how long-term civic-society activities can bring, or help bring, political change.
Jiří Pehe, a Czech political analyst who is the director of New York University in Prague, said that message had its echoes in the Czech precedent.
“It was this overall, this strategy of waking people up and telling them: ‘Look, you have agency. You can change things. You are not just passive observers of what’s going on, but you can change things, but you have to be active,’” he said.
But allowing millions of dissatisfied Americans simply to vent their frustrations would not be enough, Pehe warned. “If the Czech Republic is to be an example, these demonstrations need to happen again and again across the United States and they need to have one or two strong messages. There has to be a very strong message towards the political class because only it can actually change things. And in this case, there should be pressure on the Democrats, saying: ‘Look, it’s your task to stop Donald Trump.’”
“This emerging protest movement, and the size of the crowds at the Bernie Sanders and AOC events, is going to compel Democratic politicians to become more active, follow their base rather than so as not to lose it,” he said. “What the protest movement can do is contribute to an erosion of Trump’s popularity, and embolden opposition politicians and probably contribute to an electoral outcome in a couple years.
“In that sense, these guys are not wasting their time. I think it’s a very, very important step in getting the opposition off the sidelines.”
Back in Prague, Roll – recalling the intoxication of the anti-Babiš rallies – had advice for US demonstrators: stay positive and, whatever Trump’s provocations, avoid hateful rhetoric – something he fears the US’s two-party system makes hard to avoid.
“The division in the United States is really dangerous because you see the other side as the enemy,” he said. “It’s crucial to remain non-violent and hopeful. Talking in front of lots of people, we realised you have to be careful about your language because if you are too negative or hateful, it can defeat your purpose. Remember that the other side are people. They’re your brothers and sisters.”
